Ruth Shirley Davidson was born Feb. 18, 1929 in Waynetown, Ind., the daughter of Marion and Mildred (Crowder) Davidson. Shirley grew up in Clarks Hill, Ind., where she graduated from high school in 1948. She graduated from Minnesota Bible College in 1952. On Aug. 22, 1953, she married John "Junior" Jones. The couple moved to rural West Concord in 1955 where they farmed for several years. Junior preceded Shirley in death in 1974. Shirley moved to Dodge Center in 1980 where she lived until moving to Circle Drive Manor in West Concord last year. She worked for Tengwall Law Office, which later became Weber Law Office, in West Concord and Dodge Center from 1956 to 1994. In her retirement, she worked part time for Kiltinen Law Office.
Shirley volunteered at Fairview Nursing Home. She loved to knit and made over 1,300 stocking caps which she donated to Methodist Hospital for premature babies. She also loved to make various crafts and enjoyed other needlework and quilting.
Shirley is survived by her son, Michael (and Kim) Jones of West Concord; grandchildren, Nathan (and Kelly) Jones of Eden Prairie, Brendt (and Leah) Jones of Richfield, and Krista Jones of Rochester; great-granddaughters, Mara Nicole Jones and Abigail Grace Jones. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in West Concord on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at Concord Church of Christ on Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Concord Church of Christ, with The Reverend Tim Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township.
