A Masonic graveside service was conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 13, at Emory City Cemetery. Local Masons and Masonic Lodge conducted the rites. Rev. Billy Smith officiated
the first part of the service.
Mr. Fletcher was born Nov. 19. 1924 in Emory, the son of Douglas Jennings and Alice Irene Barker Fletcher, Sr. He married Jeanette Felton on July 27, 1949 in Greenville. They enjoyed 61 years together. He managed his own trucking and agriculture business. Mr Fletcher served his country proudly, in the U.S. Navy, as an aerial gunner in the South Pacific, during WW II. Other achievements in his lifetime were being a member of the Eagle Pass Masonic Lodge #626; a dedicated member of the San Antonio Commandery #7; Alpha Chapter 243 R. A. M.; Alpha Council #178 R. and S. M.; the Scottish Rite Valley of San Antonio; and the Alzafar Shrine. He was a member of Scottish Rite of Free Masonry.
Survivors include: wife, Jeanette Fletcher of Eagle Pass; son, Douglas Jennings Fletcher, III and wife, Mary Jane of Bandera; daughter, Phyllis Fletcher Hellums and husband, Carl, of Uvalde; sister, Edith Fletcher Williams of Houston; grandchildren, Rebecca Fletcher and Elizabeth Fletcher Llarena; several nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 sister, Jenna Fletcher Latimer.
