Andrew Maurice (Jim) Nielsen, age 81, died March 13, 2011 at his home surrounded by family in Springville, Utah.

He was born November 17, 1929 in Ephraim, Utah to Maurice and Ardell Nielsen. He married Rula Ann Greaves on September 30, 1949. They were sealed in the Manti Temple on March 19, 1951. They would have celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary this year.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the bishopric, and as a counselor in the High Priest Group Leadership.

Jim worked road construction for many years and retired from Kennecott Copper after seventeen years of service. Next to his family, grandpa loved his horses and dogs and spent countless hours with them.

He is survived by his wife, Rula, of Springville; children: Sheldon (Michelle) of Springville; Steven (Annette) of Mapleton; Ken (Debra) of Springville; Catherine Holmes of Springville; Ron (DeAnn) of Mapleton, as well as twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, four brothers, Glen of New York City; Keith of Salt Lake City; Reed of Mesa, Arizona, Joe of Ephraim; and one sister, Mary Hill of Mayfield. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David of Ephraim.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spring Creek Sixth Ward Chapel, 860 East 200 North, Springville. Friends and family may call on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, and Thursday at the Church one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Ephraim City Cemetery.
