Hoyem Funeral
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Lutheran church for Iver M. Hoye, who died Wednesday night of a stroke suffered the previous Wednesday. The Rev. E. W. Wilson of Livingston gave the sermon; Mrs. Ted C. Busha sang Rock of Ages and When God Puts Out the Lights, with Elnor O. Overland at the organ. Pallbearers were I. I. Brendsel, George O. Rostad, Creston L. Crest, E.H. Ellingson, Seval Warp, Theo T. Olson. Interment was in Mountain View cemetery with Patterson's in charge. Many beautiful floral pieces were arranged about the casket. Deceased was 83 years of age on April 5. He came to Eau Claire Wis., from his native Bumesset, Norway, in 1882. Six years later he came to Sweet Grass county, living first at Melville. In 1892 he went into the sheep business on East Fork, moving in 1899 to Lower Sweet Grass so that his children might attend the Howie school. The family spent a year in Norway following his sale of the ranch in 1907. For the past 22 years, he had ranched on a place two miles from Big Timber on the south side of the Boulder. One daughter, Mrs. Susanna Hoyseth of Livingston, with whom the mother makes her home, and two sons, Ingwald I. Hoyem of Butte and Mike Hoyem of Melville, survive. A son, Ole I., died in 1922, and a daughter Ida Walker, in Eugene Oreg. more recently. Relatives at the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Eli Hoyseth, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Hoyseth, Livingston; Mr. and Mrs. Ingwald I. Hoyem, Butte; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hoem, Melville.

He was born at the Høyem Farm in Byneset, Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway to Mikael Olsen and Siri Iverdatter. In 1878 he married Olava ( named Laura in the US). Their first son was born the same year, but he died in 1879. In 1882 their son Ole was born at the Høyem Farm. They left Norway the first time in 1883 and the second time in 1887. He and his wife and their children Susanna, Mikal, Ida and Ingvald was back in Norway in 1908.
