Big Timber Pioneer, September 24, 1953
Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Harper Ahern, 60, were conducted from the Lowry Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Ahern passed away suddenly of a heart attack at her home in Big Timber Sunday.
Mrs. Ahern was widely known in Wheatland and Sweet Grass counties where she ranched and was active in stock raising.
She was born at White Sulphur Springs and came to the Fish creek community with her parents in a covered wagon. She received her education in the local schools and she remained in this vicinity until her marriage to James Ahern in 1924. They resided in Lewistown for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Briggs of Missoula, Mrs. Jewell Scott of Phippsburg, Colo., and Mrs. Jennie Miller of Big Timber; three brothers, Sandy Harper of Melville Jack Harper of Billings, and Eddie Harper of Melville; three aunts, Mrs. William Allen of Big Timber, Mrs. Alex Malcolm of Livingston, and Mrs. Ole Rostad of Billings; also a number of uncles, nephews, and nieces.
