George William Austin 78, of 292 N Point Dr NE, died Monday Jan 13, 1997 in St Luke's Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services: 1 pm Thursday, Faith Bible Church, Robins by the Rev John Shulte. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rodney; a brother, Samuel in the battle of the Coral Sea in WW II; and 2 sisters, Bernadine Begley and Loretta Lansing.

He was born the son of Smauel and Emma Lange Austin on April 22, 1918, north of Marion

married to Pauline Platner there on Feb 19, 1939.

He was a verteran of WW II in the US Army 19th Infantry CO E 24th Division engaged in combat in the Philippine Islands.

He was a carpenter and homebuilder in Linn County for 22 years. He retired in 1983 from 10 years of carpenter-maintenance at Cornell College.

He was a member of Robins Faith Bible Church and American Legion Marion Post 298.
