Great Aunt Bertha Mae Reece was born in October 1899 in Onia, Arkansas to Joseph and Sarah Ann Mann Reece. She married Thomas Rankin Anderson on December 29, 1919, in Searcy, Arkansas. They had five children: Clifford Lance, Claud (Happy Jack), Carl Denton, Sally Evaline Anderson Lawrence and Joleen Reece Sisk.
The 1900 list Bertha as an eight month baby living with her parents and seven siblings. In 1920, Bertha, Rankin are living with Rankin's Mother and Blonda Anderson on Long Creek, Arkansas. Rankin is working as a Tireman at Hub Mill. The 1930 Census list Bertha, Rankin and four children living in Farris, Arkansas. They are farmers and renting their home. n 1940, Bertha is a widow living with her four children in Big Flat, Arkansas. She has completed the 8th grade and owns her home. Bertha is listed as a widow, but Rankin passed in 1970.
Bertha passed on April 30, 1996, in Big Flat, Arkansas, at the age of 96, and is resting in the Big Flat Cemetery. (Rankin passed in 1970 and is resting in Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.)
