Corning Journal

The Livonia Citizen has a long obituary notice of Henry Dixson, (whose decease was mentioned in the Journal last week.) He was a native of Paris, Oneida Co., was married in 1823 and removed to Livonia, that year, and bought a farm. The notice states that he was a citizen of noble and unsullied character, everywhere known as a most reliable counsellor, and of unquestioned christian character. He has been for forty-five years one of the pillars of the Presbyterian Church at Livonia, one of the most liberal supporters of the Church and Society, generous and noted for his sympathy with the poor and the afflicted. He leaves two children, Ezra R. Dixson, of Livonia, and Mrs. Eliza Ann Kingsbury, wife of Lewis C. Kingsbury, of Corning.

Livonia

FROSM THE PAST TO THE PRESENT — SOME PACTS REGARDING THE GROWTH OF THE VILLAGE — REMINISCENCES BY AN "OLD STAGER."

In the next house east lived Henry Dixson and wife and their son, Ezra. The latter was married in 1858 to Ann Elizabeth Purdy of South Livonia, with whom he still lives on the old homestead. Henry Dixson died in April of the present year, nearly seventy-eight years old. He was a man of rare stability of character, and he enjoyed the respect and confidence of all who knew him to an unusual degree. He came to this town in an early day from Oneida county in this state and always followed farming. His correct business habits, his unapproachable integrity, and his ripe judgment frequently sought for by his townsmen as executor, administrator, guardian, etc., and he performed these various trusts in the most satisfactory manner. He was a true friend of the poor, and many a generous help which he extended to persons in straightened circumstances, will only be known in the day when the curtain is lifted alike from good and from evil deeds.
