WOMAN STRUCK BY AUTOMOBILE; DEATH FOLLOWS
Mrs. Cordelia St. Clair succumbs to injuries in hospital

Mrs. Cordelia St. Clair, 59 years of age, of Savage Hollow Road, South Olean, died in the Mountain Clinic hospital last night as the result of injuries received when she was struck and knocked down by an automobile on South Union street at the bridge late yesterday afternoon.
A. Piccoli of East State street, the driver of the car which struck Mrs. St. Clair, reported the accident to the police a few minutes after it happened. He said that he was going over the bridge on South Union street. Another car was coming towards him. Mrs. St. Clair stepped to the side to avoid this car, said Piccoli and stepped directly in front of his machine, which struck and knocked her down.
Mrs. St. Clair was taken to the Mountain Clinic hospital in an unconscious condition. It was found that she had a fracture at the base of the skull. She died at 8:45 o'clock.
Mrs. St. Clair is survived by her husband, Andrew St. Clair; four sons, Ralph, Ernest, Fred and Melvin, of Olean; five daughters, Mrs. Jessie Kamery, of Taft, CA; Mrs. Lee Dunning, of Gorman, TX; Mrs. Ben Rauth and Mrs. Charles Cartwright, of Buffalo; and Mrs. Kenneth Huff of Olean. She also leaves two brothers, James and Ulysses Fry, of Woodland, PA, and 18 grandchildren. She was a member of the Ladies of the Maccabees.
Funeral arrangements are to be announced later.
Coroner Burdick is investigation the circumstances connected with Mrs. St. Clair's death.
