Henry was the son of George Himmel and grandson of Adam Himmel. He married Sophia Margaret Kreiling on April 7 1898. Sophia was the 4th child of Herman G and Mary Kreiling. Sophia's sister married Henry's brother Charles E in 1889. Henry lived on the old family farm until he retired from farming in 1922. He and his wife were active in the Evangelical church at Bishop. In the spring of 1922, they moved to Manito where they united with the Methodist church. He served many years as a member of the board of education of the Manito Community High School. He and Sophia had 5 children
