U.S. Congressman. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War I, he engaged in the printing and publishing business. He also owned radio stations in Chicago, Illinois and was president of the board of education of J. Sterling Morton High School and Junior College, (1933-36, 39-48). In 1949, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-first Congress and to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1957. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed former business activities until his death.
