A veteran of over 40 films, his most noted credits included "Mutiny on the Bounty" (1935), for which he was nominated for a Academy Award for Best Actor, "The Lives of a Bengal Lancer" (1935), "Dangerous" (1935), "Five Graves to Cairo" (1943), "The Man on the Eiffel Tower" (1950) and "In Harm's Way" (1965). He was also the second husband of actress Joan Crawford from 1935 to 1939, whom he made seven films with.
