Last rites for John Wesley Heminger were held Friday afternoon (Nov 29, 1941) at the Hinitt Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Fred Shaw in charge. Mrs. Arthur Eltzholtz sang "Crossing the Bar: and "Abide with me," accompanied by Mrs. Dave Petterson. Pallbearers were R.M. Cooper, E.F. Baker, Oley Apt, J.F. Walters, Raymnd Justice and Joe Hawkins. Interment was in the family lot in Elmwood.

Out of town persons attending were Mr. & Mrs. Frank Heminger, Dr. and Mrs. T.G. Dillon, C.E. Heminger & Mrs. W. G. Henry of Kansas City, Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Lehman, Mary Lehman, Mrs. Mary Moore and Mrs. Rodney Redfield-Humboldt, Mr. & Mrs. Oley Apt, Mary Jean Apt and Milburn Apt of Buffalo, Ks, Mrs. M. Charles Brown of Fredonia, Mrs. W. Z. Bartles, Mrs. B.P. Heigle and Mrs. Hazel Northrop of Iola, M. C. Snapp and Betty Snapp of Newton, Kansas, Mr. & Mrs. E.P.
