Pfc. Andrew M. Harper, 19, of Maidsville, W. Va., died March 11, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a non-combat incident. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany. He is the son of Steven Matthew Harper of Maidsville, WV and Deanna Jeanette Anderson Harper Wells and Stepfather Craig Lane Wells of Middleburg, Florida. He is also survived by one brother; Steven Matthew Harper II of Burbank, IL, one sister; Bridgette Kathleen Ross and husband Michael Brandon Ross,of Middleburg, FL; maternal grandfather Charles Edward Anderson of Middleburg, FL; paternal grandfather; T. Dane Williams of Lost Creek; one step sister; Camille Sophia Wells of Dayton, OH; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and step grandparents; Wallace Hunt Dickson and Pauline Lillian Dickson of Green Cove Springs, FL. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Sara Marie Anderson in 2010 and his paternal grandmother Glenna Kathleen VanHorn Williams in 1988.Andrew was a brave soldier that passed away after an accident in Afghanistan. We were all so proud of him trying to serve his country and appreciate his sacrifice, just wish it had not ended the way it did. He was loved by everyone that knew him. He is missed terribly by his family.
