Marie "Granny" Barnwell, 86, of Dillingham Circle, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 5, 2011.
Mrs. Barnwell was born in Dandridge, TN, and was a daughter of the late George and Daisy Brown Burchfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Preston Barnwell, Sr., and a sister, Mildred "Midge" Evans.
She was a graduate of Oakley High School and she was a member of the Emmanuel Full Gospel Church.
Surviving are three sons, Tom P. Barnwell, Jr. and wife Linda, Steve Barnwell and wife, Theresa, and George W. Barnwell and wife, Ethel, all of Asheville; three grandchildren, Tom P. Barnwell III, Vicky D'Alessandro and husband, Marc, and George W. Barnwell, Jr., and wife, Anita' four great-grandchildren, Katlyn and Kaleb D'Alessandro and Connor and Randall Barnwell; a sister, Zade Rocisso of CT, a brother, Doug Burchfield and wife, Diane, of Fairview, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
