James Bryan "Jim" Wilson, 73, of Council Grove, KS passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, after a courageous six-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was born on October 16, 1937, and raised in Council Grove by his parents, Leslie Wilson and Waneta Christian Wilson, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, L.A. Wilson, Jr., and sister-in-law, Betty [sic].
He is survived by his brother, John Wilson and wife Nelda of Council Grove, and sister, Susan Osborne and husband Rex of Council Grove, survive.

He was married to his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Mae Taylor, on June 8, 1958. She survives. Jim is also survived by the family he and Carolyn were so proud of, including four daughters, four sons-in-law, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His daughters and sons-in-law are Amy Gant and husband Brian, Becky Johnson and husband Dave, Sandi McDiffett and husband Kelly, and Rachel Bolen and husband Bruce, all of whom reside in Council Grove. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Eric Gant and wife Kristen of Council Grove, Mindy Schaub and husband Josh of Gardner, Betsey Gant of Kansas City, MO, Cade Johnson of Council Grove, Collin Johnson of Council Grove, Mallory McDiffett of Council Grove, Madison, Bennett, and Macy Bolen of Council Grove, Hayden Schaub of Gardner, and Taylor Gant of Council Grove.

Jim loved being a part of his community, including the nearly 50 years he spent as a car salesman. He began selling cars for Hunter Sales Co. in 1963 and became a partner in Carrier Sales Co. in 1982. The following year, he became the dealer-principal of his own auto dealership, Wilson Sales Co., which he operated until 2009. Aside from his work, Jim enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, and being outside in general. He also loved attending the various sporting events and activities of his grandchildren.

Jim touched the lives of many people with his kindness and generosity, and he maintained his strong sense of character all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, March 15th, 2011, at 10:00 am at Council Grove Christian Church. Burial services will follow at Sunny Slope Cemetery. The family requests all memorial contributions be sent to the Council Grove Christian Church.
