Lee Berry was the fourth child of the late W. W. Berry and Paralee Horton Berry. He was born March 12, 1893 and was named Eula Lee for his mother who died when he was only four days old.

On December 15, 1914, Lee married Annie Odessa Jones, who was called Ann. The wedding ceremony was performed by Uncle Buck Hines. The young couple drove up in front of his house, and he came out and married them while they were sitting in the buggy

Ann and Lee first lived on the French place, then they moved to the Lambert place [both near Pleasant Grove, Texas]. By this time they had two daughters.

The family moved to Oklahoma [in 1918 when Lee's brother, Arless, went to work in the oil fields]. but came back to Texas and moved back on the old Home Place. Some time later they moved to Goldthwaite. Lee first worked for Mr. Street and then the railroad. After this he worked for Geeslin Ice, Lights, and Bottling Company.

In 1925 Lee Berry and Curtis Long bought a grocery store from J. H. Borden. It was located on the west side of Fisher Street next to Fairman Hardware Store, later Mills County Hardware. The store was called Long and Berry Grocery. Ann worked in the store until the store was destroyed by fire in December of 1939. After this the partnership was dissolved. Curtis went back into the grocery business. Ann continued working for him, and Lee started trading, buying, and selling cattle.

In 1949 Lee went to work for Consolidated Aircraft Company in Fort Worth, Texas. Lee moved back to Goldthwaite and continued to live there until his death in 1976.
