Viola Mae Landon departed this world on March 11, 2011, 5 days short of her 89th birthday. She greatly anticipated this journey to be in Heaven with her beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Viola was also eager to join her Husband, Best Friend and Companion of 55 years, Alfred C. Landon, who predeceased her. She was born in Wayside, KS on March 16, 1922, to Albert R. and Fern Lewis Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold Jones, of El Paso, TX. She was a 50-year and lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, Coffeeville, KS chapter, and an active member since 1957 of Putnam City Christian Church. Viola was written up in the Daily Oklahoman as one of the first three female Stockbrokers in Oklahoma City. She worked with the R.J. Edwards Inv. Co. for many years and retired from the First National Bank of OKC. She was a longtime volunteer with the Warr Acres Senior Center and in her church Women's Christian Fellowship until she could no longer drive her beloved white Ford LTD. She is survived by two Sons: John P. Landon, with his longtime companion, Nancy Reed, of OKC; and Joe C. Landon of Waurika, OK; and her beloved Daughter, Linda Amorosa, with her husband, Rusty, of San Jose, CA. Her dearest friends and soul mates were her Brother-in-Law, Carl E. Landon of OKC, and Sister-in-Law, Shirley Spearman of Edmond. Viola was blessed with 8 Grandchildren, several Great-Grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Mother was the rock that stood the test of time and protected her family against all challengers. Her love poured forth generously, freely and with no restriction. Services will be held at Putnam City Christian Church on Tuesday, March 15th, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Viola requested any memorials, in lieu of flowers, be made to The Warr Acres Senior Center, 4301 N. Ann Arbor, OKC 73122; OR The Putnam City Christian Church - Memorial Fund, 4215 N. Grove Ave., OKC 73122.
