William F. Rigdon who lost his life in Vietnam
July 6, 1969

It was a hot day in July when the preacher and a soldier came to our door.

The news they were to tell us would change our lives forever more. Mom and dad knew why they were there before they even spoke a word and it wasn't long before I also understood.

For it was on that day back in '69 when they came to tell us that the war in Vietnam had claimed the life of a dear brother of mine.

As we sat around the kitchen table and listened to what they had to say.

I wondered to myself, how will my parents ever survive this day. You were a loving son and brother, and a friend to many.

And words to describe our loss, well there just isn't any. it's been 30 years now since we laid you to rest. And when God chose you, he truly chose the best.
