Thomas Howell Harris was the son of David Lee and Sarah J. (Bray) Harris and married Amanda Ella Benson - 24 Dec 1899 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. He died of a gunshot wound to his chest, per his death certificate, "probably accidental". His obituary follows:

Found Dead -

At 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Thomas H. Harris was found dead in the woods close to his home near Flintville. He had been shot with a shotgun behind the right ear, the load ranging to the front and coming out in the upper part of his face. The deceased was 44 years of age and held in high esteem by every acquaintance. An inquest was held over the remains and the verdict returned that he had come to his death by a shot from his own gun. It was reported that it was self-destruction because of the inability to pay $200. The family is distressed over this report which adds to the grief over the death of a loved one, and are satisfied that it was purely accidental. The deceased is a son of Mr. David L. Harris and is survived by a wife and two children. The remains were buried at Kelso.
