SHERRILL — Lila B. Ryan, 88, Noyes Manor, formerly of Leonard Street, Oneida, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, in the Extended Care of the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she had been a resident for the past five and one-half months.

Born in Fairdale, Pa., on Feb. 10, 1920, she was a daughter of Louis D. and French Devine Brotzman. A resident of the Oneida area for the past 68 years, Lila was a graduate of New Milford High School and Temple University, School of Dentistry's Dental Hygiene Program. She resided on Leonard Street for more than 45 years. He former husband, Robert A. Ryan, died in 1997.

Mrs. Ryan co-owned and operated City Lanes with her husband and had been employed with the late Dr. Leonard J. Baglio of Oneida as a dental hygienist in his office. She was a member of the American Legion Oneida Post No. 169 Auxiliary and the Oneida Elks Lodge No. 767 BPOE Auxiliary and was of the Methodist faith. She was an avid bowler on several leagues in the 1950s. Lila had a great love of all sports, especially baseball; the New York Mets were her favorite team.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Richard Maciag of Vernon; one son, Robert L. "Corky" Ryan of Oneida; one brother, Louis D. Brotzman of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, Robert R. Ryan and his wife, Judith of Canton, Texas, Sherry Maciag of Long Beach, and Rick Maciag of Vernon; four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Tiffany, Robert and Brandon Ryan. She was predeceased by two sisters, Carol Richardson and Maxine Palmer. The family wishes to give special thanks to Drs. Robert Burdick and Paul Kardjian and the staff of the 4th Floor at ECF for the excellent care and concern given to Lila.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Rev. William Wilcox, officiating. Interment will be made in Oneida Castle Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, noon to 2 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
