Dennis O. Gutgesell, 59years, of Beaver Dam passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Don & Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center in Fitchburg after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Dennis will be on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Dr. Mark J. Molldrem officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 14th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Beaver Dam and on Tuesday, March 15th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton, Wisconsin.

Dennis was born the son of Orval S. and Erna M. (Beske) Gutgesell on December 28, 1951 in Beaver Dam. He was a 1970 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He was also a graduate of University of Wisconsin Madison with a bachelor's and Master's degree in computer science and mathematics. Dennis was united in marriage to Linda K. Brueckmann on July 29, 1972 in Juneau, Wisconsin.

Dennis had been employed with the Beaver Dam Unified School District as a teacher for 29 years. He was a lifelong member of First Ev. Lutheran Church. He was actively involved in the Lutheran Teens Athletic Association for over 35 years. He enjoyed collecting antiques and farm toys and staying at different bed and breakfasts. Most important for Dennis was being with his family; and he especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda and his three sons: Denin (Natalie) Gutgesell of Waukesha, Nicholas Gutgesell of Columbus and Nathan (fiancée Angela) Gutgesell of Beaver Dam; three grandchildren: Nolen, Emma and Molly; his sisters: Edith (Richard) Westra of Arkdale and Joan (Robert) Vick of Beaver Dam; his nephew, Robby (Chelle) Vick of Janesville; his niece, Julie (Adam) Schmeidlin of Madison; three great nephews: Aiden and Alex Schmeidlin and James Bozeman and his great niece, Ashley Bozeman. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Erna and his niece, Vickie Westra Bozeman.
