Leona Jane Alberts, 58, of Haltom City, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, in Arlington, Texas. She was born on Nov. 16, 1945 in Catarina, Texas to Eldon Webster and Leona Williams Hammer. She was raised in Honobia and attended the Honobia School. She was in the last class in Honobia. She was an accomplished artist and loved to play the piano. She married William Douglas Alberts on Jan. 13, 1968 at the Second Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas. Her life revolved around her three wonderful granddaughters. She was a very loving wife and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Kenneth Hammer and Baby Hammer; and one sister, Jerlene Bishop.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; one son, Bill Alberts of Houston, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Lea and John Young of Bedford, Texas; three granddaughters, Brittney Garrison, Alaina Garrison and Kathryna Garrison, all of Bedford, Texas; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Otis Hammer of Zavalla, Texas, Eldon Hammer Jr. of Irving, Texas and Ronny Lee and Helen Hammer of Plano, Texas; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita "Paulie" and William Stretcher of Mt. Vernon, Texas, Mary Joyce and Donald Kinsey, Linnie Lee and Jon Davis and Rosemary and Don McKee, all of Honobia; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 13 at the Little River Christ Church in Honobia with Lee Roy Williams and Keith Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Ludlow Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.
