Lucinda was raised by her uncle, James Vaughn.

Mrs. S. A. Box, well known resident of Quitman, died at her residence at 10:45 last Thursday morning from double pneumonia.
The deceased was prominently known throughout Clarke county and her death comes as a shock to her many friends scattered throughout this section of the state.
Funerial services were held from the Methodist church in Quitman at 2:00 p.m. Friday. Interment followed in Odd Fellow cemetery.
The church choir sang the hymn "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." The scripture reading was given by Rev. J. D. Ellis of Quitman. The second scripture reading was given by Rev. W. B. Jones of Meridian, presiding elder of this district.
Mrs. Fred Everett sang, in accord with Mrs. Box's last request, "Sunrise Tomorrow," followed by a solo by the Rev. O. H. Scott of Raleigh, "Nothing Between."
The Rev. J. L.Carter, pastor of thr Fifth Street Methodist church of Meridian gave the opening prayer.
The Rev. V. G. Clifford, pastor of the Quitman Methodist church, paid tribute to the deceased, praising her as one of the community's outstanding citizens, pointing to her life of Chistian leadership, as a Christian mother,church worker and dearly beloved friend.
The deceased was one of the three oldest members in the Quitman church, having joined in 1885 when she and the late Mr. Box setteled in Quitman following their marriage in Baldwin county, Ala.
Dr. Joseph H. Smith of Meridian, pastor of the Central Methodist church, delivered the closing prayer. The benediction at the grave was given by Rev. W. K. Miller of Newton.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. J. M. Chalk of Meridian, and Mrs. Thomas M. Dabbs, Quitman; six sons, Dr. W. E. Box, Newton; J. O. Box, Bentonia; J. A. Box, Bogalusa, La; S. W. Box, Decatur; S. E. Box, Laurel, and John Box, Quitman.
Pallbearers were the grandsons: W. E. Box, Jr., J. A. Box, Jr., Sam Box Jr., John Box, Alex and Bill Box.
