A funeral Mass for James Martin Abel Sr., 73, of Greenville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, Floyds Knobs, with burial in St. Mary of the Knobs Cemetery. He died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in Bowling Green, Ky.
He was born in Louisville on Jan. 4, 1938, to Ernest and Ruby Mae Key Abel and was their last living son. He served in the Marine Corps and was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Regina and their seven children, Teresa Flick and her husband, Larry, of Washington D.C., Kim Gholston, of Greenville, James Abel Jr. and his wife, Marsha, of New Albany, Scott Abel and his wife, Lisa, of Bowling Green, Ky., Matthew Abel and his wife, Audra, of Georgetown, Angelita Cain and her husband, Mick, of Sellersburg, and Nicholas Abel and his wife, Kristal, of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren, Larisa, Tyler, Brittany, Sydney, Kristina, Marcus, Katelyn and Grace; and one great-grandson, James Isaiah.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
