Rev. James Daniel Price, 79, of Rt. 2, Curtisville Road, Mannington, died Sunday March 13, 1988 at the United Hosptial Ceneter in Clarksburg. He was born in Smithfield March 29, 1897, son of the late Henry and Bitha Swiger Price. Rev. Price was tha Pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God at Curtisville and was retired veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his widow, Myrtle Whaley Price; four sons, Archie Price, Fairmont; James Price, Jr., Folsom; Lonnie Dale Price, Reader; Kenneth L. Price, Centerpoint; eight daughters, Mrs. Harvey Ardell (Pearl) Floyd, Folsom; Mrs. Paul (Gladys) Ash, Folsom; Mrs. Norman (Anna Mae) Edgell, Folsom; Mrs. William (Katherine) Anderson, Folsom; Mrs. Bill (Violet Rae) Floyd, Wallace; Mrs. William (Alice)Ash, Jacksonburg; Mrs. Edward (Patsy Belle) Leggett, Wallace; Mrs. George (Grace Lee) Woofter, Porter's Fall; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Moore, Clarksburg; Mrs. Frank (Lorie) Edgell, Smithfield; two brothers, Charlie Price, Hepzibah; William Price, Beaver Falls, PA; 50 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Four children preceded him in death, two sons, Gilbert "Dick" Price and Wilbert "Wib" Price and two daughters, Ida Mae Price and Audra Mae Price.
Services were held at the Penecostal Church of God at Smithfield, the church which Mr. Price built, on Wednesday, March 16. The funeral was conducted by his son-in-law, the Rev. Paul A. Ash of Folsom and assisted by the Rev. Mr. Maynard paster of the Church of God at Fairmont.
