Audra Estella Sites Alt, 89, of Petersburg, W.Va., died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
Mrs. Alt was born Jan. 22, 1915, in Petersburg, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late John R. Sites and Martha E. "Mattie" Yokum Sites.
She graduated from Petersburg High School, Shepherd College, West Virginia University and taught elementary school for 32 years. She was member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church.
In 1953, she married Homer A. Alt and they moved to Toledo, Ohio. She was affiliated with the educational program in the Art Museum in Toledo and was a member of the Lewis Baptist Church, where she and her husband, were among the pioneers of forming the educational system of the church school.
Her husband, Homer A. Alt, preceded her in death in 1981.
She is survived by two stepsons, William A. Alt of Danbury, Conn., and David W. Alt of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Grace Kittleberger and Ruth Sites, both of Petersburg, W.Va.; seven stepgrandchildren and 18 step-great-grandchildren; a niece; a nephew; one great nephew and four great nieces.
The Rev. David H. Blackwell will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. today at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, W.Va.
Friends were received Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Petersburg First Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
