Harland E. Halverson age 80 of Tomah, formerly of Hustler, WI, died on Thursday January 20, 2011 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Harland was the son of Oscar and Bernice (Johnson) Halverson and was born on July 1, 1930 in Mauston, WI. Harland was raised on the family farm between Elroy and Hustler, and he attended the Tunnel School, and later graduated from New Lisbon High School. Harland married Betty DeLap on June 10, 1955 and they later divorced. Harland later married Lolabelle Westerman on August 30, 1977, and she preceded him in death. Harland farmed in Hustler for many years, and then he worked for Jermoos Truck Stop in Oakdale. Harland moved to Tomah in 1978 and began working for Toro Manufacturing. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hustler, WI for many years. He is survived by his children, Patricia (Kenneth) Stubbs of New Lisbon, Harland "Rick" (April) Halverson of Necedah, WI, Pamela (Jeffery) Larson of Tomah, WI, and James (Ruth Ann) Halverson of Camp Douglas, WI, Brothers, Gordon Halverson of Tomah, WI, and Gene (Sharon) Halverson of New Lisbon, sisters Phyllis (Elmer) Gernant of Greybull, WY, Maree (Calvin) Christensen of Murfreesboro, TN, and Darlene Bowen of Mt. Pleasant, TX, step children, Pat& Dan Bridges of Colorado Springs, CO, Theresa & Kevin Leer of Cainsville, MO, Mary & Gaylin Johnson of Elroy, WI, William & Connie Westerman of Tomah, WI, James Westerman of Camp Douglas, WI, Kathy & Jerry Gibbons of Hustler, WI, Beth Westerman of Tomah, WI, Richard & Karen Westerman of Elroy, WI, and Tom Westerman, by 8 grandchildren and 20 step grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren, and 2 step great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Harland was preceded in death by his parents, infant brothers Gerald and Jon Halverson, his second wife Lolabelle Harlverson, a granddaughter Tiffany Flietner, and a step son Timothy Westerman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday January 24, 2011 at 11:30am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hustler, WI with Rev. Russell Trachte presiding. Burial will be in the Hustler Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30am till the 11:30 time of service.
