Betty was the daughter of the late Hasper D. Cook and Elizabeth Virginia (Mongold) Cook VanMeter. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Garfield VanMeter; and one infant sister, Virginia Lee Cook.
Betty was survived by her husband of 50 years, E. Wayne Whetzel; one son, E. Wayne Whetzel Jr.; seven sisters, Catherine Phares and Elizabeth A. Judy, Lucy Mae Calhoun, Bonnie K. Baldwin, Linda Ritchie, Sharon J. Crites and Karen J. Whetzel ; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Whetzel and Zachary Whetzel.
