Inez Lena Mitchell, 87, of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Monday, March 7, 2011 at All Soul's Catholic Church in Bridgeport with Father Dave Rykwalder as Celebrant. Interment will be held at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport. Friends may call from 2pm until 5pm on Sunday, March 6 at the church with a Rosary Service at 5pm. Memorials may be made in care of the church.
She was born October 14, 1923 in Dalton, NE to Alfred and Gertrude (Riecks) Alber. She attended school in Center School in Dalton, Bridgeport and attended Bridgeport High School. She married Raymond Mitchell on May 25, 1943 in Bridgeport, and they were married for 47 years. They raised their family in the Bridgeport area where they also operated the Rainbow Café for several years.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, crocheting and loved going on outings with her daughters. She especially loved spending time with family. She loved cooking for her family and it was always a special treat when everybody could sit down together and have a lovingly cooked meal. Many memories were shared and made when everyone got together.
She is survived by her daughter Martha (Cody) Houston of Bridgeport, son Thomas (Kathy) Mitchell of Crawford, son Dennis (Linda) Mitchell of Minatare, son Ron Mitchell of Broadwater, daughter Rose Marie (Rudy) Sides of Bridgeport, and son Bruce (Dee) Mitchell of Bridgeport; sister Mary Louise (Albert) Weitzel of Bridgeport, brother Norbert (Shirley) Alber of Bridgeport; 20 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents, husband Raymond, great grandson Cameron Wiggins, brother Maynard Alber, sister in law Helen Alber and 2 nephews preceded her in death.
