Alta first married Brooks W. McCain in the home of her parents in Webster, Texas, on June 28, 1925. Following his death in 1944, she second married Elliott Lee Murray in Texas on December 18, 1948.
Her sisters were Eloda Fay (Bryant), Zelta Viva (Mayeur), Lillian Elberta (Plumley), and Frances May (Dolson).
