Marie Webb Ray, 81, of 1043 Longstreet Road, formerly of Sherwood Drive, Elberton, widow of Claude E. Ray, Jr., died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Ray was born in Elbert County, May 26, 1929, the only child of the late Joe Harris and Mildred Elizabeth Anderson Webb. She was a homemaker and a member of the Elberton First Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Claude E., III and Linda Ray, of Athens, Tommy and Pam Ray, and Jason and Rebecca Ray, all of Elberton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ray is preceded in death by daughter, Janet Ray.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be Friday, March 11, at 11AM in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Reverends Jay Akin and David McConnell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 10-11AM Friday, just prior to the service at the funeral home.

Flowers will be graciously accepted and memorials may be made in her honor to St. Judes Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Pallbearers will include Mike Waters, Andy Eavenson, Clint Webb, Mark Cartledge, Henry Bell, Tommy Tate, Napoleon Blackwell, Scott King, Donnie Phillips, and Danny Smith.
