Funeral services for David Williams, 40-year-old veteran of the Canadian Royal Air Force and the U.S. Air Force, are pending here under direction of West Funeral Home.

Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack D. Williams of Carlsbad, died November 1 at Butte, Mont., of a heart attack. He was born December 12, 1914.

At the outbreak of hostilities in World War II, Williams, who later became a geologist, went to Canada and joined the R.A.F. He soon went overseas and was taken prisoner.

Held in Italy by the Germans, he made three attempts to escape, the final one succeeding.

His remains will arrive in Carlsbad this morning from Butte, Mont. Time for services were to be set.

Survivors include his parents, of Carlsbad, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles E. Barnhart, Albuquerque, and Mrs. K.J. Williams, Artesia.
