** Date of newspaper is not always the date of the incident - this was a weekly, and stories were written, set, and the printing was done after the facts were typeset, often days later.

Chico Weekly Chronicle-Record, Saturday, February 8, 1890, pg 1 col 2: Funeral of Mrs. S.E. Grover. The funeral of the late Mrs. S.E. Grover will take place this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the M.E. Church, South. This is the good lady whose death was announced in this paper yesterday morning, giving her name as Mrs. S.E. Crowell. The mistake grew out of the fact that such was her name before her second marriage. Her son and three grandchildren bear the name of Crowell. Again by another mishap the funeral notices gave the name of Groves instead of Grover.

Unpleasant as such mistakes may be, they cannot change anything concerning the good life of the aged matron. Through the years of a long life this noble woman has borne her part, until in extreme old age she passes on to her future home.
