Martha Mattie Augusta Lane.

A letter written by Henry Wilburn Owen to his would be wife, Mattie A. Lane. This was copied as near as possible from the original hand written letter, even to the spelling and capital letters and punctuation. If it seems uneducated, that is not true by any means. In those days being able to read and write was an accomplishment and many still made their "mark" on legal papers, because they couldn't write their own names.
