Leslie Bethers, 84, died March 10, 1996 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, after a lingering illness.

He was born October 31, 1911 in Daniels Creek, Utah to Albert Francis and Almira Tiffany Bethers. He was married January 7, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple to Mabel Lewis. From 1943 to 1945 he served in the U.S. Armed Forces, in World War II. Les was a contractor, heavy equipment operator, and superintendent foreman on many road projects. He also worked for the State Road Department and belonged to the Operating Engineers Local No. 3.

He was a High Priest in the LDS Church; home teacher, Mutual president, Sunday School superintendent, High Priest Group leader and temple worker at Provo, Utah.

He was compassionate and kind to those he met. He was a loving husband and gentle father, who cared deeply for his grandchildren.

Survived by wife, Mabel, of Heber City; four daughters: Bonnie Hansen, West Valley; Mrs. Arden Roney (Carolyn), Newport Beach, Calif.; Julie Montgomery, Roosevelt; Mrs. Calvin Bleazard (Shirley), Heber City; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Fred Llewllyn (Irene), LaVerkin; Mrs. Leo Owens (Erma); brother, Howard Bethers, Salt Lake City.

Preceded in death by parents, brother and sisters, Dean Bethers, Norma Nelson, Effie Thacker, Alvin Bethers, Ned Bethers.

Funeral services Thursday, March 14 at 11 a.m. in the Heber 3rd Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Olpin Mortuary, Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to services. Burial, Heber City Cemetery.
