Born in County Cork, Ireland, Daniel came to Texas before March 2, 1836. Mr. O'Driscoll was married to Mrs. Catalina (McGrath) Dugan, who as a widow, came to Texas in 1834 with her children, John, Michael and Helen Dugan.

He was second Sergeant in Captain Henry Teal's Company of Regulars at the Battle of San Jacinto , having served in the army from January 5, 1836 to September 14, 1838. His Military Service Record No. 969, certifies that he was commissioned Second Lieutenant of Infantry January 15, 1837 by order of President Sam Houston.

Daniel settled at Victoria after the Texas Revolution, and later moved to Refugio County where he engaged in the cattle business and ran a tavern. He died July 4, 1849 while a justice of the peace of Refugio County, and was buried in an unmarked grave in Mount Cavalry Cemetery.
