Motion picture character actor. He made more than 150 films from 1915 to 1952. Among his films: "The Prisoner of Zenda" (1922), "Scaramouche" (1923); three films with Greta Garbo: "Mata-Hari" (1931), "Grand Hotel" (1932) and "Queen Christina" (1933), "Treasure Island" (1934), "China Seas" (1935), the Andy Hardy series as 'Judge James Hardy,' and the talk versions of "The Prisoner of Zenda" (1952) and "Scaramouche" (1952).
