UNCONSCIOUS 36 HOURS, MAN HIT MY MOTOR DIES
Mystery Surrounding Injuries of G.W. Landon Cleared up Before Victim Passes A WICHITAN FOR 12 YEARS

G. W. Landon, 66, who was brought to St. Francis hospital early Monday morning suffering from a compound fracture of his skull and other injuries, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, after having lain unconscious from the time he was brought to the hospital by two men, who left without giving their names or details of the accident.
The seeming mystery which surrounds the leaving of Mr. Landon at the hospital and the manner in which he was injured was cleared up Tuesday when Alvin Crow, who resides just north of the city, reported to Sheriff C. E. Grove that he struck Landon with his car near Thirty-Third street on Arkansas Avenue about 6 a.m. Monday while Landon was walking south on the pavement. Crow reported that he and Frank M. Chamberlain of Walnut Grove, who happened along about that time, took the injured man to the hospital and that hospital attaches failed to secure their names.
Landon was a widower living on the Tatum farm about a mile and a half west of Sullivan's dam and was walking to town to begin work when he was struck by Crow's car. The driver of the car reported he did not see Landon until his car was almost upon him. Coroner D. G. Heckman announced, following Landon's death that he would conduct an investigation into the accident and that if he deemed it necessary he would call an inquest.
Mr. Landon had been a resident of Wichita and vicinity for the past 12 years. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W. A. Mercer, 1703 Woodland Avenue, Wichita; Mrs. Curt Dunlap, Seward, Kansas; and Mrs. Charles Ledbetter, one son Sam Landon, four sisters, Mrs. A. K. Curtis, McPherson; Mrs. A. J. Curtis, Garden City; Mrs. H. L. Steele, Scott City; and Mrs. O. O. Wallace, Christfield. Lahey and Martin mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
