MATTIE ROBERTS BALL
ALEXANDER – Mattie Roberts Ball, 95, of 698 Flint Hill Road, Alexander passed away Wed., March 9, 2011.
Mrs. Ball was a native of Madison County. She had lived in Buncombe County since 1944. For 65 years she was the wife of Rev. Kimsie R. Ball, who died in 1997. She was the daughter of Robert W. Roberts and Rhoda Roberts Ball. Mattie was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church for many years. She was a good wife, a great mother and a wonderful person.
Mattie was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Ball Metcalf; two sisters, Daisy Conner and Jeanette Cooper; four brothers, Robert Roberts, Walter, Coleman and Richard Ball.
Mattie is survived by three daughters, Faye Metcalf of Asheville, Clara Youle of Corbin, KY and Irene Earwood of Alexander; three sons, Roland Ball of Gastonia, Raymond Ball of Alexander and Ronald Ball of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two sisters, Jean Rice of Leicester and Eloise Riddle of Marshall, one brothers, Dallas Ball of Horse Shoe; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday in Oak Ridge Baptist Church with the Reverends Larry Sprouse and Charlie Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Church Cemetery.
