Songwriter, Composer. He is best remembered as the author of the popular American Civil War sings "Tramp ! Tramp! Tramp! ("The Prisoner's Hope")," "The Battle Cry of Freedom," "Just Before the Battle, Mother," and "The Vacant Chair," which are still popular today.
