"The Roanoke Leader" - February 13, 1918:

MR. M.V.B. CORLEY DIED AT ADVANCED AGE OF 77

At 4 o'clock Tuesday morning, Mr. M.V.B. Corley died at the residence of his son, Mr. W.E. Corley, this city. The death resulted from an attack of grippe.
Mr. Corley was 77 years of age and was among those immortals, the veterans of the Confederacy. He was a member of the Baptist church and a good citizen.
The last rites were held at the home at ten o'clock this morning, following which the body will be taken to Bethel and laid to rest by the side of the remains of his companion who proceded Mr. Corley to the tomb a few years ago.
