"The LaFayette Sun" - August 31, 1892:

Mrs. Crowder.

Died at her home, about three miles south of Roanoke, Ala., on Friday, the 26th of Aug. 1892. Her remains were interred at Bethel Baptist Church on the 27th. The funeral was conducted by Rev. John Cumbee. After many days of suffering and pain this good lady found rest in death which she was not afraid to meet, but like all who have the consciousness of a well spent life, she was ready to smile and say "welcome death". Her earthly journey, although a short one, embraced all the womanly graces and Christian virtues that ever adorned a pious saintly woman. Her life was one full of noble deeds, kind acts, Godly ministerings. Lighted by the brilliant star of the Christian's hope, she leaves a noble and beautiful example, and the comforting assurance that she has gone to that better land where troubles and cares are unknown and partings come no more. At the time of her death she was a consistent and devoted member of the Methodist Church, where she lived many years of devotion and service to her Master who was to her a great solace in the hour of death.
May God comfort be bereaved ones and lead them in the way that shall at length bring them to a happy reunion in heaven.
