12/15/ 1909 - 5/4/2006
Florence Blanchfield went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2006 at the age of 96. Florence was born on a farm near Loup City, NE. She had one sister, Loretta Carpenter.
Florence taught school in a one-room schoolhouse before answering her country's call to service in World War II. She attended a physical therapy program at Mayo Clinic and, upon graduation, entered the Army with the rank of lieutenant. During World War II she traveled by convoy to the Philippines where she helped wounded soldiers recover in an Army hospital. She worked in physical therapy for 30 years, retiring as head of her own department at Sandwich Hospital in Sandwich, IL.
After World War II Florence met her husband Dan at Hines Veterans Hospital in the Chicago area. They were married on June 1, 1947, and were blessed with over 55 years of faithful marriage and two children who honored and cherished them.
In 1980 Dan and Florence moved to California to be nearer their children. In Placerville they were blessed by the ministry and fellowship at Calvary Bible Church and, in Lincoln, by the pastor and church family at Foothill Bible Church.
Florence is survived by her two children, Paul Blanchfield and Beverly Dandridge; and one grandchild, Karen Dandridge, all residing in Lincoln.
A memorial service was held at Foothill Bible Church on May 8, 2006.
