Betty JoAnn Sutphin, age 65, of Osceola, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born May 7, 1945 in Pensacola, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Hazel (Crawford) Duckworth, her brothers Russ and Roger Duckworth, and her sister, Kathy Brooks.
Surviving is her husband Franklin Sutphin of Osceola, and their children, Robert Kemper (Karen) Sutphin of Osceola, Kenneth (Lori) Sutphin of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kelli (Michael) Gohn of Osceola. Surviving as well are three grandchildren Franklin Sutphin, Nathan Sutphin, and Lexus Gohn; step grandchildren Joe, Tom (Branka) and Michael Pickett, and step great grandchildren Sam, Arianna, Jake and Trinity Pickett. Also surviving are her brothers Steve (Linda) Duckworth of Alabama, Merk (JoJo) Duckworth of Virginia, and Roy Duckworth of South Carolina.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, March 11, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also lovingly watched several of the neighborhood children. Betty loved working in her garden, and on warm days sitting in her sunroom enjoying visitors. Her infectious laugh and warm spirit will be greatly missed.
