Funeral services for Darren Glyn Bates, age 46 of Jewett, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Bro. Billy Bob Evans & Clay Thornton will officiate and interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery near Jewett, Texas.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2010 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas.
Darren Glyn Bates was born on October 9, 1964 in Madisonville, Texas to James Andrew & Bonnie Beth (Evans) Bates. He had lived in Leon County his entire life and graduated from Leon High School in 1983. Darren raised race horses for a living. He enjoyed roping, hunting and playing golf. He most enjoyed spending time with his children. Darren attended the Church of Christ in Centerville. He passed away on November 22, 2010 in Temple, Texas.
Survivors include sons, Dalton & Brody Bates of Jewett, Texas; father, James Bates of Jewett, Texas; mother, Bonnie Tittle & husband, Gayle of Centerville, Texas; brother, Darryl Bates & wife, Teresa of Centerville, Texas; sister, Kim Lacey & husband, Danny of Centerville, Texas; nieces Krystal Brewer & husband, J.W., Kendra Harris & husband, Brian and Alex Lacey and nephews, Kraig Bates and Park Lacey & wife, Allison.
