John T. Lee.

I moved from Harris County, Ga., to Chambers County, Ala., 47 years ago. John T. Lee was among the first whose acquaintance I made. I was married at the time and soon after this he married Miss Frankie Danielly. We lived close neighbors for a long time and I soon found him and his dear wife to be as noble characters as we had in all of the land. For most half a century I have been intimately associated with him and his family and I know they stand among those we term the "salt" of our country. He by the mutual help of his true companion have reared a large family of sons and daughters to call them blessed.
He was a Christian gentleman and has attended many of my appointments and the preaching done among us by ministers who visited the churches I served. For my encouragement he often said that no minister he had ever heard could present the truth of the scriptures any clearer than I did. Years ago he had to go to the hospital in Atlanta, Ga., for treatment of his eye and it was while there that he saw himself a great sinner before God, begged God for mercy and was made happy in the Lord who forgave all his sins. He said I was the first one he desired to tell this gracious experience to.
I greatly desired to attend his burial at Bethel near Welch last Friday, but feeble health and rain prevented me from doing so. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; they rest from their labors and their works do follow them." To his large and sorrowing family we extend our heartfelt sympathy and pray God to make them all as strong in character as he.

Written voluntarily by one who loved him.

MR. JOHN T. LEE DIED THURSDAY AT HIS WELSH HOME

The news of the death of Mr. John T. Lee at his home at Welsh, five miles south of Roanoke last Thursday, carried sorrow to many hearts throughout this entire section, for he had long been a leading citizen of the northern part of
Chambers county. Mr. Lee was nearing his seventy-fifth birthday and had been in declining health for many months and confined to his bed for several weeks. His home church, Bethel, where the funeral services were conducted
Friday morning, was crowded by friends and admirers of the deceased and his good family. Music was furnished by a quartet from Roanoke. The pastor of the church, Rev. Brady Bartley, was in charge of the services. A beautiful
tribute was paid to the memory of the deceased by Rev. J.W. Rucker of LaFayette.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife and eleven children, seven sons and four daughters. Three children in the family have died. Mr. Lee was a good man at home and away from home. He tried to fill well his place in the world and
consequently lived a useful life and had the esteem and confidence of his neighbors. His going hence is a sad loss to those who loved him and to the public at large.
