Lizzie Lewis

Lizzie P. Lewis, 86, Michigan City, died at 6:45 a.m yesterday (Dec. 5, 1989) at St. Anthony Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Carlisle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Garden. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. today and until the funeral tomorrow. Mrs. Lewis was born on Sept. 15, 1903, in Putnam, Okla., the daughter of Charles and Mamie Adkins Brown. On Feb 15, 1921, in Kansas, she married Winford Lewis, who died on Aug. 28, 1978. Surviving are five daughters, Mildred Smith, Dorothy Will and Anna Zonyk, all of Michigan City, Ethel Bryant, Portage, Ind., and Pearl Firebaugh, LaPorte; a son, Clarence Lewis, Tacoma, Wash,; four brothers, Charles Brown, Michigan City, Orville Brown, Ithaca, N.Y., Ross Brown, Harlingen, Texas, and Cleatis Brown, Orland, Fla.; and two sisters, Grace Thompson, Winamac, Ind., and Leona Crawford, South Bend. One son, Elmer, is deceased. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the Light House Church.

A portion of the obituary for Lizzie P. Lewis in yesterday's newspaper should have read:

Surviving are five daughters, Mildred Smith, Dorothy Will and Anna Zonyk, all of Michigan City, Ethel Bryant, Portage, Ind., and Pearl Firebaugh, LaPorte; one son, Clarence Lewis; 25 grandchildre, 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Charles Raymond Brown, Michigan City, Orville Brown, Ithaca, N.Y., Ross Brown, Harlingen, Texas, and Cleatis Brown, Orlando, Fla.; and two sisters, Grace Thompson, Winamac, Ind., and Leona Crawford, South Bend, Ind. One brother, Edgar Brown, five grand-children and one great-grandson are deceased.
