William R Freed, aged 80 years 7 months and 19 days,of 204 Shaw Avenue, died in the F. W.Black Community Hospital this morning 7:20 o`clock. Admitted December 9, he was ill since April 25, age infirmities caused death.
Born April 25,1863 at Beavertown, he was the son of Jacob and Susan Ritzman Freed, natives of Bucks County.Surviving is wife,the former Ellie Ingram. He was the last survivor of a family of six brothers and three sisters.
In 1885 he entered his buiness career, opening a store in Siglerville, continuing there until 1900 when he bought the farm of his wife`s mother,Mrs Elizabeth Ingram,located in Decatur Township.He cultivated the farm until 1904 when he sold it and changed his resience to Lewistown,where he owned and conducted a grocery store at 200 Shaw Avenue, 1905 to 1914 when he retired from the store business and occupied his new home at 204 Shaw Avenue where he lived a retired life until death.
Mr Freed served eight years as valuation and registration assessor of Fifth ward. He was a member of Lodge 213,odd Fellows,Milroy.
Friends may call at the home after 6 PM Wednesday until 9 AM Friday when the body will be taken to Fretz Funeral home where the viewing will be until 2:30 PM Friday time of the service there.Rev. Dr P H Stahl,Yeagertown Lutheran pastor,will officiate.Burial will be made in Mount Rock Cemetery.
