James Stanton a Tinner by trade and part of a well know family in Jay County S/O Fredric Stanton 1794-1863 come to Jay county from Warren county Ohio. The family came to America in 1608.
Married 2 times 1 to Hannah Suffrins and they had atleast 6 children. 4 sons
Dr David Suffrins Stanton, James, Capt John Stanton and Charles E. Stanton a tailor by trade whom died Feb 12,1864 and is burried at the Chattanauga National Cemetery under C.E. Stanton and 2 sisters. James also had a brother John S. Stanton who also served in the Civil War.
James Stantons father Fredric came to Jay County about 1860 and was conductor in the underground railroad he died in Portland in 1863.
